FAQ - Contour Anti-Roll Belts
Q: Is this hernia belt suitable for both female and male users?
A: Yes. The CUI Anti-Roll Contour Belt is a versatile, unisex support garment. Its unique contoured back is specifically designed to adapt to various body shapes (including wider hips or narrower waists), making it a highly effective hernia belt for female and male patients alike.
Q: Can I wear this belt against my skin?
A: Yes. The 'Soft Glove' design features a soft-brushed inner lining specifically designed for direct skin contact.
Q: Can this ostomy belt be worn over my appliance?
A: Absolutely. The wraparound design is engineered to be worn over your ostomy appliance to provide Level 3 support. The fabric provides firm compression to manage hernias while maintaining enough flexibility to ensure your stoma bag functions correctly underneath.
Q: How do I know if the width is right for me?
A: The 20cm width is our most popular depth for standard torsos. To check suitability, sit down and measure from the top of your stoma bag to your leg crease. If this distance is roughly 16cm, 20cm or 26cm, then these specific belts will provide full coverage without digging into your thighs. We always recommend consulting a support specialist for professional sizing guidance.
Q: How do I know if I need Level 3 support?
A: Level 3 is our firmest support level. It is recommended for managing existing hernias, preventing parastomal hernias during heavy lifting/exercise, or for those who prefer a very secure, stabilised feel.
Q: Can I wear this hernia support belt while sleeping?
A: We generally do not recommend wearing firm Level 2 or 3 support garments while sleeping, as the body requires less compression when horizontal. For overnight security, we suggest a Level 1 light support garment. Always follow the specific advice of your support specialist regarding your 24-hour routine.
Q: Is the Anti-Roll Contour Belt available on NHS prescription?
A: Yes. Like all CUI professional garments, the Anti-Roll Contour Belt is fully approved for NHS prescription in the UK. You can request it through your GP or support specialist.
Q: Can I wear the Anti-Roll Contour Belt for sports or heavy exercise?
A: Yes. This belt was specifically designed for stability during movement. The Level 3 compression provides the abdominal reinforcement needed during physical exertion, while the anti-roll strips ensure the garment doesn't bunch or slip while you are active.
Q: Does this belt help prevent hernias as well as support existing ones?
A: Yes. For those at risk, the Level 3 firm compression provides the abdominal wall reinforcement necessary for parastomal hernia prevention during physical activity. For those with an existing hernia, the anti-roll stays and contoured back ensure the bulge is contained and supported comfortably all day.
Q: What makes the "Contour" version different from standard belts?
A: Standard belts are straight-cut, which can lead to the fabric gathering or rolling at the waist. The Contour design is anatomically shaped to fit the curve of your lower back and hips, providing a more stable, locked-in feel that stays flat against the body.
Q: How do I wash the belt?
A: We recommend a warm machine wash (up to 40°C). Ensure the hook and loop fastenings are closed before washing to protect the fabric. Air dry only.
